Here’s the 3rd instalment of the Cadence x Pez video series, and a look at the associated shirt and pin set. Really like the part in this vid where Pez speaks to his and Massan’s experience in Japan and how his art was viewed over there. Smart original content production by Cadence to promote the label, kudos to D. Klein as always.

Now for your weekly dose of art lookbook, here’s Japanese label Bukht and their f/w 2013 collection. Looking through their site archives I really like collections from seasons past (and current), but you wouldn’t know anything about the pieces from this presentation… but who cares, its art not fashion, right? Right.

Here is a bangin’ new lookbook by Japanese label Softmachine for the current spring/summer 2013 season. The brand is a tattoo-inspired apparel label that was started back in 2002 by Kosuke Yamagishi. The artwork for the collections are all done by Japanese traditional tattoo artists, taking inspration from traditional Japanese tattoo art, contemporary fine art, photography and music associated with the tattoo culture. Some damn good looks seen here, all very skins, suedes, teddy, rocker styles with plenty of plaids, bowling shirts, Docs, Braces and head tats.

Crack & Shine – Copenhagan

Here is the newest entry from the the second season of Crack & Shine and their international series, documenting graffiti from across the globe. This most recent video edit was shot in the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen. The edit was shot by Will Robson Scott and features Copenhagen writers painting clean trains, street bombing on track bikes and describing the history and present state of Copenhagen graffiti. I have always loved the Danes and their dedication to keeping the clean train moment alive, even with the new ‘Strawberry trains’ that aren’t the most desirable shape they still love to paint them and love the fact that they run.

Adam Nickel – New Works

Adam Nickel is an artist based out of Australia, more specifically the Sunshine Coast of Australia. He has a background in animation, graphic design and advertising with a rather broad client range from GQ, Wired, The Gaurdian, Patagonia to Deus Ex Machina. One thing that prevails throughout his works is his love for two wheels, bicycles and motorcycles. I am really feeling this recent series of works,  titled ‘Dreams, Dedication, Discisions, Defeat.’ Each one has a certain emotion to it, makes you feel like you are there working on the bikes. Click through for some previous works from Nickel and click here to purchase prints.

The MTN Diaries II ‘Hardcore 2012’

As we haven’t posted much music or art over the last while so I thought I might as well put up this trailer for the new MTN Diaries, Hardcore 2012. We posted the first MTN Diaries video back when it came out in 2009 (we have been doing this for a minute) and this is the first release in the series since. This one looks to be pretty serious with the usual suspects from WUFC, SDK, PAL crews and more terrorizing rooftops, train yards and lay-ups and of course the friendly neighbourhood streets. Looking forward to the release of the full length.

Design24: Limited Edition

[vimeo 39567562]

I made a beat for this promo video featuring the homie Ben Knight and the work of other homie Ben Tour. From the writeup,

‘Launching on Friday April 13th at Vancouver’s Gallery FUKAI, Design24 finds its inaugural reception as a new bi-annual event featuring some of the West Coast’s most reputable emerging and established artists, graphic designers and illustrators. The exhibit features the work of 24 individual artists in limited edition (10/10) screen printed runs of their work. Design24 embraces the parallels between art and design/ designer and artist; paying respect to the duality of commercial design work, its artists and culture.’

Looks to be a great show featuring some very talented artists. Happy to contribute to the project in my own way, and I think this video turned out great. If you’re in Vancouver I’ll catch you at the opening.
