Cadence: PEZ Episode 1

‘Cadence is proud to announce the exclusive release of special collaborative project with PEZ.PEZ is a prominent street artist and deeply rooted figure in San Francisco cycling and messenger culture.Honored by the opportunity to work with PEZ, we wanted to share his story with those who may have yet to hear about him. For the next three weeks we will release an episode on PEZ which we hope sheds some light on his influence and involvement in cycling and graffiti cultures’

Outs to Dustin Klein and Cadence for this, paying respect to the origins of the culture some of us are a part of. Looking forward to episodes 2 and 3.

Brakeless x Squire Barbering

Two dudes who are like brothers to me, this video features the newly renovated Brakeless on Parc Ave in Montreal, now home to Squire Barbering as well as the pre-existing bike shop. Shouts to Vitamin Water for profiling Syl and Rob, having just returned from a visit out east I’m 100% stoked for these two and what they’re doing in the Mile End.

Sir Bradley on the Giro

The Giro starts tomorrow and damn if I’m not really excited. Mostly because our hometown hero Ryder Hesjedal is the defending campion, but also because it is a beautiful, gruelling race that will provide me 3 weeks of anxious days ignoring all coverage online so I can watch the stage when I get home from work (after my own rides, of course). Here’s a video from Sky + Rapha featuring Wiggo discussing his own history in cycling, riders he looked up to, and what the Giro means to him: great stuff as always from a key challenger in this year’s edition and a big personality in the sport.

Born-Free 5 Invited Builder Series

Born-Free has become the premier custom vintage bike show in the US and perhaps the world, and the 5th edition goes down late June… as per usual the show has been releaseing builder profiles in the leadup and these are my two favourite so far, the California based Noise Cycles and Cycle Zombies. Different styles and different stories but both very rad, watch and enjoy

12 O’Clock Boys: Trailer

Having just premiered at SXSW, here is the trailer for Lotfy Nathan’s forthcoming film 12 O’Clock Boys, set on the inner city streets of Baltimore. ATVs and dirtbikes being reappropriated in this context is nothing new, but Nathan’s doc has a distinct storyline:

Pug, a thirteen year old boy living on a dangerous Westside block, has one goal in mind: to join the 12 O’Clock Boys; the notorious urban dirt-bike gang of Baltimore. Converging from all parts of the inner city, they invade the streets and clash with police, who are forbidden to chase the bikes for fear of endangering the public. Pug looks to the pack for mentorship, spurred by their dangerous lifestyle. He narrates their world as if explaining a dreamscape, complemented with unprecedented, action-packed coverage of the riders in their element, guided by the riders themselves as they take to the streets and clash with Police. The film presents the pivotal years of change in a boy’s life growing up in one of the most dangerous and economically depressed cities in the United States.

How The Race Was Won – Milan-Sanremo 2013

Yes, it’s true, we’re on a non-clothing video-centric streak right now, so just roll with it while it lasts.

This year’s edition of Milan-Sanremo was one for the ages. The first of the big 3 Classics, the weather made for a dynamic race and hardman glory, with an amazing finish (as is the standard for this test of endurance). I won’t let on how it ended but rather check this highlight and commentary reel from Cosmo Catalano, the latest entry in to his How The Race Was Won series. Humorous and insightful, these are the best pro road cycling videos going.
