Here’s the 3rd instalment of the Cadence x Pez video series, and a look at the associated shirt and pin set. Really like the part in this vid where Pez speaks to his and Massan’s experience in Japan and how his art was viewed over there. Smart original content production by Cadence to promote the label, kudos to D. Klein as always.
‘The Vans #86 Lampin was originally produced in the USA in 1993, introduced at the time as an updated durable skate shoe. This summer, Supreme will be releasing a new version of the Vans Lampin.’ The first ‘Preme collab we’ve featured this season, can’t knock the ongoing quality of the Vans connection and these are no different: oxblood / navy colourway is my personal favourite.
Muttonhead have teamed up with Montreal photographer Spencer Edwards of Propr Postur, for this editorial shoot for the spring/summer 2013 collection. Titled ‘Propr Sport’ the shoot features the new items from the Mutt’s SS13 ‘Good Sport’ collection. Great looks for both guys and girls and some really nice shots, great team efforts all around.
Vancouver Island’s Sitka has released their take on the classic ‘Hobo Knife’ made by USA knife maker CaseXX. To celebrate the release of the Hobo knife they have put together this great photo series and video to present the knife in all its glory; train yard lurking, fire warming and bean eating goodness.
“Some go where the wind takes them. Some push back against the breeze with all their might. Some, like the hobo, realizing that from strong winds grow strong trees, choose which gusts to jump aboard and which to let pass by.
Hobos were people who, in the face of economic hardship, took to trains in search of work and a living wage. What began as a means to survival became a way of life for some, and continues to this day.
The Hobo Knife is a tool to aid you on the road. With a removable knife, spoon and fork (complete with bottle opener), this knife has everything you need for life on the road or rails.
The Hobo Knife is a collaborative effort between Sitka and CaseXX, producing a USA-made, custom, one-of-a-kind, utility style knife. The Hobo knife features custom engraved Sitka ‘Hoboglyphs’ on the blade and Sitka branding on the oak handle.”
I am a bit biased on this one as I did the artwork for the knife but as a knife collector and lover myself this is a win/win for me. Head over to Sitka to grab yourself a Hobo and live the life…
Been waiting on a set of seasonal looks from Narifuri for too long now, so it’s time to showcase their new products for s/s 13 via bike-centric retailer Blue Lug‘s own in-house shoot. The Disney jersey collab is really on point and the jackets look great as always: Narifuri is always 100, check the archives for proof.
Japanese bag and accessories company master-piece brings this look at their spring/summer 2013 collection. With their bags all being made in Osaka with high quality craftsmanship and unique materials and fabrics the brand really nails it in the bag dept. Another thing I always like about the brand is their presentation, with high quality lookbooks that give a certain mood that really works with the collections themselves. This time around they went all SoCal on us with this surf inspired lookbook, which really ties in with the custom hand-made surfboard range they worked on with Japanese board shapers T-Men.
Supreme has been the subject of much internet chatter lately regarding the label’s mainstreaming and what it means for streetwear (read this excellent Four Pins article for reference). Regardless of how you feel about the NYC staple the North Face collaborations are always fire and this s/s 2013 offering is no different: I’ll take the grey jackets without a second thought, and the backpack. The pricepoint may be what makes the decision for most people but there is really no going wrong with this ongoing partnership.
