‘The idea behind Aether Chasing Winter was to combine two passions: motorcycles and skiing. To get the best of both worlds, we planned a trip through the Rockies in early April, hitting the first of the open roads and the last of the spring skiing. We carried all the gear we needed on the bikes, including poles, boots, and skis. It wasn’t exactly the most practical way to travel, but it definitely was the most exhilarating.’
Nailed the concept and execution, and looked like a lot of fun as well. Aether keep pushing it forward whether it be with their product offerings or use of online media to tell their story.
Teetering on the edge of overblow, Solomon manages to keep this video on the inspiring and beautifully shot end of the spectrum, a treatise of why we seek the outdoors and the serenity of being embedded in nature. I’m no trail runner or nordic skier but I can appreciate the sentiment, I usually can’t turn off the mail client and browser quick enough at the end of the day and trade them for the soundtrack of a freewheel through country roads. Nice work from a brand who is wisely following the lead of other content creators in their marketplace.
Damn rights its starting to look like proper springtime out here in the Pac North West and the 84/85 boys are taking full advantage of it. As of late both Kevin and myself have been getting out as much as we can and doing all of the many things that take up our spare time, and here are a few pics from the last while from the both of us (as always you can follow us here and here).
New from Van Isle’s Sitka, here’s a new video short shot all on Super 8 film of some of the surf team on a recent trip to Iceland last year. Shot in part by Chris Burkard (who is one of my absolute favourites on the gram), Iceland remains a place I need to visit… like our own Pac Northwest scenery but on another level… plus there’s hotsprings.
Vancouver Island based and Sitka team rider Peter Devries is featured in this beautifully shot video entitled Outside the Box. The video was produced by Adam Chilton, a Tofino based videographer and features music by Other Lives. Shot on the rugged shores close to Tofino, at one of our many amazing surf locations here on the island, Pete just crushes the waves: barrels, airs, this edit has what you need.

Pulse check time. Here’s one hell of a reel from Renan Ozturk, covering about every corner of the globe you could imagine. Amazing sights and supreme editing/soundtracking, this is the stuff of inspiration… and of course I found it via a local boss in that regard, Rumon Carter (I would recommend clicking through to Vimeo to watch this in HD full size).

We first showed you clips from this feature-length doc way back in 09, and now the film is finally ready for a proper release late this spring. Here’s the final trailer, a beautiful look at one man’s cross-country journey via bicycle.
Part of him had been expecting something profound to be waiting at the ocean, but, in many ways, it never came.
