Goodhood Women’s Lookbook Spring/Summer 2011

We posted the Goodhood Mens lookbook for the spring/summer 2011 season a few days ago, and at that point I didn’t even notice the women’s lookbook; after I took a view through I was just as impressed with it as I was the men’s. With similar style cues such as bold patterns like Navajo and leopard seen throughout, I really dig these looks, perfect for the ladies with these upcoming warm spring/summer months. Favorite Looks For Girls: Winter 2010

Neither myself nor /85 would ever claim to be experts on women’s fashion… we both work solely with menswear and spend most of our time on the internet sorting through the vast men’s blogosphere. That being said, I definitely know what I like, and for this winter it pretty much runs parallel with what I’ve been feeling in men’s trending. I’ve seen a lot of great looks being rocked by the ladies involving flannel, denim, leather, tweed, fur accents, and tons of black. Big patterned sweaters, oversized tops combined with leggings or skinny jeans, boots galore (especially Docs), military looks reinterpreted, and bags and headgear that compliment but don’t overpower… winter is such a rad time to flex your style, as the layering options go on and on. As with guys, it’s all about not looking too thought-out or contrived… from what I’ve seen this season, a lot of you girls have some good things going, and have obviously killed it on a few vintage trips. Favorite Looks For Girls: Early Fall 2009

lookbook1

Bored at work scanning through days of Lookbook pics has really raised the excitement for fall; not only for my own imminent brandishing of flannel, leather, and denim, but for the awesome looks saved up by all you pretty girls for autumn. The shot featured above sums up much of what I love in your fall wardrobes: femininity, simplicity, total wearability, and a sense of coyness. All I want to see is strong personal style that’s not over the top, either in shabby thrift-chic or label whoring. I think some short leather/jean jackets, check-print shirts, subtle knits/blazers, solid boots/flats/chucks rotation, and a good denim collection will keep me straining my neck right up until winter. Favorite Looks For Girls: A Bike

bike babe1

To keep it moving with the favorite looks for girls feature at 84/85, we would like to point out a certain accessory that is more for function than for looks, and that is a bicycle. There is nothing better than seeing a pretty girl riding down the street on a bike, and no matter what type  it is, cruiser, road, BMX or fixed gear, it is a sexy look. Not only do you look good while riding it, it’s a practical way of getting around the city while enjoying yourself at the same time. Trust me, your life will be more fun on a bike…

I think every really stylish, pretty girl I know owns a Betsey Johnson dress, either in a fun floral print for summer or a chic black number like the ones pictured above. being male, I don’t really know what it is about the Betsey Johnson name and style that drives girls crazy, but damn if you females don’t get more worked up over her than basically any other designer I know. anyway, the point is I like it – girls of all different shapes and sizes always look super attractive in one of these dresses, and the attitude that you ladies carry carry when you wear one of these pieces is always confident. so let me know – what is it about a Betsey Johnson dress that is so appealing?

wld3003_olys_la new series that has been long over due, ‘favorite looks for girls’ will document how we want our future ex-girlfriends to dress. up first is the classic ‘boyfriend tee,’ with this model coming to you from James Perse. note the dropped shoulder seams – this shirt should also be bought a size or two too big, completing the Sunday-morning-panties-and-knee socks look. it also helps if its well-worn / seen a few dryer cycles. this would also kill with jeans and Chucks. other honorable mentions in this category: androgynous tee’s by Cheap Monday and American Apparel.
